Joseph J. Loran
Joseph J. Loran was born in Tacoma, Washington and is a life-long resident of Pierce County. He has been practicing law in downtown Tacoma for thirty years.
Mr. Loran received his undergraduate degree in finance and economics from Washington State University and his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Puget Sound (now Seattle University) School of Law.
Mr. Loran handles personal injury, family law, business and probate cases, and he provides estate planning services for his clients.
Mr. Loran represents several local businesses, churches and non-profit organizations. He has volunteered his time over the years serving as a board member for several non-profits.
Mr. Loran is frequently hired as a mediator, and he also serves as a mediator for the Pierce County Center for Dispute Resolution and for Pierce County Superior Court. Mr. Loran was named as PCCDR's 2013 Settlement Conference Mediator of The Year.
Mr. Loran is a member of the Tacoma Pierce County Bar Association, the Washington State Bar Association, the Washington Mediation Association and the Washington State Association For Justice. Mr. Loran is licensed to practice in State and Federal Court.
Mr. Loran resides with his wife Nancy and they have three adult children. When he isn't practicing law, Mr. Loran enjoys boating, waterskiing, fishing, golf and supporting our local sports teams.
Michael E. Ritchie
Michael Ritchie was born in Tacoma, Washington and graduated from Mt. Tahoma High School.
After high school, he went to the University of Puget Sound majoring in Business Administration. After the University of Puget Sound, Mr. Ritchie attended the University of Washington School of Law, graduating in 1982, passing the Washington State Bar exam that same year.
Mr. Ritchie began his legal career working for the law firm of Estep & Li (which became Ellis Li and McKinstry), before relocating to Tacoma to begin working for the firm Dolack, Hansler, Loran & Ritchie in the summer of 1989. Mr. Ritchie has continued to practice law in Tacoma, Washington since joining the Dolack, Hansler law firm in 1989, and he continues to practice with Joseph Loran.
Mr. Ritchie’s practice emphasizes Plaintiff’s Personal Injury and other areas of civil litigation. Over the last 30 years he has settled, arbitrated, or tried hundreds of cases for victims of tortious conduct and unfair dealings by insurance companies. He also has experience practicing Estate Planning and Probate Law.
Mr. Ritchie is a member of the Washington State Association for Justice. He has served the community providing pro bono legal work for the Union Gospel Mission and numerous charities, has volunteered his time as a mediator, and for a number of years was the chair of the Board of Directors for Family Renewal Shelter, a domestic violence women’s shelter.
